Lab Instrumentation — question 2 of 10

Write a real answer. It is graded against the question's rubric, and the mastery movement is computed by the same engine the product uses. Scoring here is deterministic rather than model-written, so this page costs nothing to run and nothing is saved. In a track built from your own posting, the same rubric is graded by the model, which is what produces feedback about your reasoning rather than about coverage.

You want to measure how much current a small 3.3V sensor board draws during normal operation. You put your DMM in series between the supply and the board, select the mA current range, and close the loop. The sensor board now resets randomly and its behavior looks glitchy. When you instead clip a clamp-on current probe around the same wire without breaking the circuit, the board runs perfectly fine and you read about 45 mA. What's going on, and how would you change your DMM-based measurement so it stops disturbing the circuit?

How sure are you?

Being confidently wrong costs more mastery than admitting a guess — that is deliberate, and it is how misconceptions get found.

Neither is graded, and nothing here is recorded.
