Sensors & Data Acquisition — question 10 of 10

Write a real answer. It is graded against the question's rubric, and the mastery movement is computed by the same engine the product uses. Scoring here is deterministic rather than model-written, so this page costs nothing to run and nothing is saved. In a track built from your own posting, the same rubric is graded by the model, which is what produces feedback about your reasoning rather than about coverage.

This is a systems-level question about reconciling two independently-correct measurements that still disagree, common in DAQ systems using redundant sensors.

You have two temperature sensors mounted near the same point on a board, a thermocouple and an RTD, each independently calibrated against a traceable reference and each verified accurate to within their stated tolerance. At steady state, running the same test, they disagree by 3C. Neither is out of spec on its own calibration certificate. How do you figure out what's actually going on, and how would you combine or reconcile their readings for a single trustworthy temperature value?

How sure are you?

Being confidently wrong costs more mastery than admitting a guess — that is deliberate, and it is how misconceptions get found.

Neither is graded, and nothing here is recorded.
